The potential of Generative AI (GenAI) is huge—it can boost efficiency, enhance sales, and even create new business opportunities. However, turning that potential into reality isn’t easy. In fact, only about 25% of planned GenAI initiatives reach full deployment and many people, especially Gen X and Baby Boomers, are still unsure of its value.
Many organizations seeking value from GenAI focus on a top-down approach, optimizing processes for ROI. However, this ignores the individual fears and uncertainties that can hinder adoption. To truly unlock GenAI’s potential, a top-down strategy must be paired with a bottoms-up approach that builds awareness, curiosity, and skills among employees.
Like most companies, we’re actively exploring how GenAI will transform our processes and offerings. We also recognized this need for a strong bottoms-up approach to shift mindsets across our workforce. Our expertise in transformation is what led us to develop Adoptify, a customizable micro-experience platform specifically designed to engage people in initiatives using social gamification.
We used Adoptify to create a GenAI Journey for our employees to make the process of learning and embracing GenAI fun, engaging, and trackable. By breaking down the barriers of fear and uncertainty, it helps our team members—from beginners to experts—feel comfortable experimenting with GenAI.
Adoptify in Action
We designed a four-week Adoptify program that tailored challenges to different experience levels. In the first week, participants completed a survey to gauge their familiarity with GAI and learned about intellectual property concerns. The second week focused on integrating GenAI into their workflows and exploring how it could impact their roles. Week three offered specific use cases, like data analysis and persona creation, and week four encouraged sharing reflections and re-evaluating perceptions.
The early results were impressive, particularly for a completely voluntary program: 56% of all challenges were completed, with nearly 90% of our team participating . Conversations sparked by the program revealed deep insights and creative ideas, demonstrating how GenAI can be a powerful tool for growth.
For example, one participant reflected on how GenAI could help them adapt to a new role, while another shared how creating AI-driven personas made them think more deeply about user needs. Another team member realized that our human experience is key in partnering with GenAI, emphasizing the importance of ethics, empathy, and expertise. Below is a reaction from one of our team members:
“I will be joining a new team, taking on new projects that are very different from what I have been doing over the past 6 months. As for integration and workflow, I can use AI to help me learn what to expect over and above what I think I may already know or what is shared with me by the team. I can re-learn how to use specific tools I haven’t used in a while. I will research information about the client I’ll be supporting to be better versed in their work.”
At TiER1, we’re excited about the potential of GenAI to transform our company. But what sets us apart is that our team is not only ready but eager to explore and embrace these changes. We have the data to back it up, and we’re confident in our journey forward.
