Betsy graduated with an English Language Education degree after completing her student teaching in Okayama, Japan. She started working in insurance for a 3rd party administrator, but quickly moved back to educational work by moving to a textbook publisher, Cengage. Betsy worked in the Cengage legal department, specializing in rights and permissions, for eight years as a Senior Project Manager. In her time there, she worked on a variety of disciplines, from Business, Life Sciences, and National Geographic English Language, but the Art History titles were her favorite.
Betsy has been married to her husband, Jesse, since 2017. Jesse’s from the Seattle area and came to Cincinnati for a Dietetics internship. They have three cats, Luna, Milo, and Pixel. Betsy also has a very large pet rock collection, ask me about my rocks or cats any time!
Betsy is a trained pastry chef with a certification in Pastry Arts from Cincinnati State. She’s never worked professionally, but she has made a few wedding cakes and used to sell sea salt caramels and buckeyes during the winter holidays.
Betsy is fully committed to her green witch garden. She has over 35 different varieties of herbs and plans to add dozens more. Outside of herbs, Betsy’s focus is on integrating more native plants and trees, as well as growing veggies to preserve for winter. Spending time in her gardens quiets her mind; it is meditative and restorative spending time with the earth.
Betsy can't live without fantasy novels, RPG video games, Indian food, fall bonfires, and exploring local breweries.
