Jodie is passionate about developing fluid, impactful learning courses through rapid authoring development. She believes in the power of learning agility and adaptability, two capabilities that harness a breadth of skills and enable her to pivot, prioritize, and provide her best work.
Jodie graduated from DePauw University with a BA in Kinesiology and minor in Studio Art. Her initial trajectory was that of a physical therapist or health scientist, but her broad interests and desire for continuous learning brought her to the world of learning and performance. She has an affinity for interdisciplinary learning and integrated project structure, embodied by the completion of her year-long undergraduate thesis on modern genetics, social identity, and concepts of personal origin during her final semester. During her internship in the TiER1 Indy office, she gained experience in both instructional writing and rapid authoring development by building learning solutions and collaborating on client projects.
Jodie’s potential fully realized happens on a team that leverages the strength of the pack. Whether on her track teams or biking teams in high school and college, she invests leadership by example, encouragement, and togetherness that draws out group potential.
Before attending university, Jodie spent every summer teaching one-on-one swimming lessons for reduced or free rates with a community program. Each week proved vastly different, from fitting young kids with inflatable arm bands to critiquing front crawl S-pulls demonstrated by groups of teenage students. Jodie worked to equip growing kids with the skills they needed for water safety while also building connections with kids and parents across Cincinnati.
Jodie can’t live without pencil and paper. She spends free hours drawing portraits, figures, and, sometimes, landscapes (if it’s for a friend). Her favorite place is constantly shifting, but is always linked to the people around her or in her community. For her, “home” is abstract, created in the present through connection. Right now, her all-time favorite place is Indianapolis, where she keeps connected with friends and her “second-family” who all live in the area. And, if Jodie had to pick one meal to eat for a year, it would be cheese. She’s a big fan of charcuterie boards and the potential for numerous meat/cheese/jam combos.
