Light is passionate about the concept of understanding and helping people understand. She is also passionate about being a global citizen - traveling and connecting with people from different nations and cultural backgrounds. She has traveled to over 10 countries including Scotland, Italy, Poland, Cuba, and Ecuador.

Her Academic Expertise

Light attended DePauw University as a recipient of DePauw's oldest and most preeminent merit scholarship - The Rector Scholarship. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry in May of 2021 graduating with Academic Honors as a part of DePauw's Honor's scholar program. During her time on campus, she developed into a unique and powerful young leader, reestablishing the DePauw chapter of the African Student Association, co-chartering and serving as the first co-president of the Student National Medical Association's Minority Association for Premedical Students (MAPs). Light also served on the DePauw Student Government and participated in several biology and chemistry NIH funded research projects. She was also named a semifinalist for the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship (France).

Her Potential Fully Realized

Light's potential is fully realized when she helps someone arrive at that AHA! moment- that moment where a difficult concept clicks or makes sense. Light gained some practice helping peers and students arrive at this moment during her time at DePauw where she served as a Quantitative Reasoning Tutor, STEM Guide and volunteered at the Indianapolis Women's Prison tutoring incarcerated women towards earning their GED.

Community Partnership

During her freshman year at DePauw Light traveled to Chontapunta, Ecuador as a part of a Timmy Global Health medical brigade. She worked with a team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and classmates to set up day clinics in nine different rural Ecuador communities providing medical and dental care to folks that would not otherwise have access.

Favorite Quote

"Always aim for the moon, for even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars."
Light heard this quote for the first time ever during her eighth-grade year and it quickly became a keystone in how she approached all things in her life. Similar to Tier1's core value of High Performance -- Light strives to do the best work possible in every situation. She always aims for the moon because even if she misses, she'll land amongst the stars.
