What He’s Passionate About
Improving the human experience. Richard loves working with people who are humbly committed to the hard work of personal growth, authentic leadership, and improvement.
His Professional Experience
Before joining TiER1, Richard had worked in luxury hotels, community hospitals, academic medical centers, a valet parking company, a malpractice insurance company, and a strategic consulting practice.
Richard believes that well-run, healthy, and safe organizations (regardless of industry/sector) are led by leaders who love what they do; understand the business they are in; have a clearly articulated vision; and know that they are only as good as the people they hire, resource, train, and develop.
His Values in Action
Richard values personal accountability, self-empowerment, and kindness. He strives to always learn through mistakes and trial and error. Richard thinks love has a critical place and role in work: “When you love what you do and who you do it with, it makes a difference in your life and the lives of everyone around you.”
Where He Makes a Difference
Through his work as a trusted resource to his clients and as an executive coach. Richard also volunteers on youth mission trips with the United Church of Christ in Ipswich, Massachusetts, where he is also a novice lay preacher.
Family Matters
Richard loves being Robin’s husband and Harrison and Carrie’s dad. He also likes to think of himself as “dad” to the family pets: Indie the dog, and Butterscotch and Sookie the cats.

Favorite Quote
“Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don’t, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.” – Dr. Seuss
