We’re honored to announce we’ve been awarded a 2024 Platinum Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America (MHA). The Bell Seal is a first-of-its-kind workplace mental health certification recognizing employers striving to create mentally healthy workplaces for their employees.
The Bell Seal recognizes employer advances in workplace mental health by awarding Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum recognition levels. Only 1 in 4 employers meet the standards for Bell Seal certification. TiER1 underwent a rigorous evaluation in four areas: workplace culture, benefits, compliance, and wellness, and was humbled as a first-time applicant to receive the top score in each of those areas.
Gaining status as a Bell Seal-certified organization demonstrates TiER1’s ongoing commitment to improving employee mental health and well-being, not only for its own employees but also for other organizations.

For example, TiER1’s “Start the Conversation” toolkit aims to break silence surrounding mental health in the workplace. The four-week program, offered free to other organizations, earned recognition from the CDC and the APA. TiER1 has also teamed up with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to reimagine Adapting for Life, a teen mental health and suicide prevention program. In addition, TiER1 Performance joins forces with local business owners and community members each year to activate mental health awareness through a unique fundraiser called The Scurry.
Meg Switala, Director of Healthy Cultures commented, “We are honored to be recognized for our holistic approach to mental health and well-being, as we know the impact it has on our fellow TiER1ers, their families and communities, and how they show up for the clients we serve. A critical part of our approach is normalizing conversations around mental health, which increases the likelihood of seeking help and accessing our many support resources.”
TiER1 is committed to providing the best for its employees and looks forward to continuing work to ensure they uphold the standards the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health set forth. Learn more about MHA and the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health at mhanational.org/bestemployers.
